In the 21st century, with the worsening of environmental pollution and the high demands of securing energy resources, the application of nuclear power is developing rapidly. The International Symposium on Symbiotic Nuclear Power Systems for 21st Century (ISSNP) is focused on nuclear power in harmony with human, society and environment by exploring advanced nuclear technologies for attaining higher safety in nuclear power operation. The ISSNP, first held in 2007, in Japan and then in 2008 in China, has become an important conference for the researchers, engineers and industrial practitioners from all over the world to present and discuss the latest advancement of their research in the area of nuclear science and engineering.
The ISSNP2010 is organized by Harbin Engineering University (HEU) and will be held in Harbin, a beautiful city located in the north-east of China and being famous for her ice culture. HEU is a national key university supported by the “211 Project” of the Chinese Government with her distinctive specialties of shipbuilding industry, ocean exploration as well as nuclear science and technology. At present, the college of Nuclear Science and Technology of HEU has become the largest talent education and training base for nuclear industry in China, covering the most comprehensive range of specialized nuclear science and technology programs. In addition, HEU is also famous for its legendary history and impressive campus architecture.
